Connection setting

Type - defines the connection type. If DryerManager is the only software that uses the selected communication port and the port is on the PC where RS485 to RS232 adapter is connected then you should choose a Local COM port. If there are other NIGOS devices on the selected communication port or DryerManager is running on PC in the network then you should choosea communication via  Remote TCP server.

Depending on the selected type of connection, port selection box is visible or boxes for selecting TCP server and TCP port. If Local COM port is selected then COM port: box should indicate RS-232 port to which RS-485 adapter is connected. If Remote TCP server is selected then IP address of the PC where ComServer is installed should be entered. Also in the edit box for TCP port appropriate port number that should be the same on the communications server.

Data Baud rate: = 57600, Data bits: = 8, Parity: = even, and stop bits: 1 = should have been set on the actual values and should not be changed. In case different communication speed is required, it can be changed but all controllers on communication line must be set to same communication speed.

The same goes for Time out:, Retrying: and T.out slave:. They should not be changed.

Field Path sets the path to the folder where database that DryerManager generate are stored..

Field Logon server defines the IP address and port for logging to NIGOS technical support server. This field should be unchecked, if there is no internet connection on PC where DryerManager is running (this is still in testing phase).

Field Auto Update enables software connection to the update server, checking the availability of new versions, downloading the new version and restarting if necessary. Insert URL address of update server in the Update URL box. Right-click on this field opens a pop-up menu from which you can set the initial description of the server addresses and manually launch update procedure.

Field HTTP Server enabled access via Internet (using Internet explorer, etc...). Box HTTP port defines the port for user access to DryerManager via network or Internet.Your network administrator has to allow access to this port (forward this port to IP address of the computer where DryerManager is running) on the default Internet access to enable that DryerManager can be accessed via Internet.

Summary: In this window user should only select the type of communication and in relation to it set Com port or TCP server.

 

After setting the necessary parameters, click OK.
