![]() Equipment for automation and modernization of existent conventional kilns
"NIGOS - elektronik" is manufacturing automation equipment which is used for automation and modernization of existent conventional kilns, regardless whether used working medium is hot water or steam. When this equipment is built-in, users practically get a brand new kiln. Special advantage this equipment has is that all existent control equipment in the kiln can be attached, and our automation equipment only uses it in the way which provide the optimal drying. Drying process consist of air temperature/humidity control, and several especially designed automatic control units can be used. MC-600 and MC-502R are most frequently used. They are delivered in plastic case suitable for wall mounting. Old equipment in the kiln is connected to controller using cable glands at the bottom part of the case. All relevant parameters for process control are obtained through air temperature/humidity and wood moisture content measurement. Wood moisture content is measured in 4, 6 or 8 points while temperature and air humidity are measured in 1 or 2 points. Most controllers have an ability of inbound medium temperature measurement in 1 point also. These values are displayed on the displays, so the overview of current conditions in the drying kiln is always possible. Control of the servo heating valve provide the overall air temperature control. In the similar way, control of the servo drive for opening/closure of flaps and servo humidifying valve (atomizers) provide the overall air humidity control. Automatic, semiautomatic and manual control mode is available. When in automatic control mode, automatic control unit follows the chosen drying regime and achieves optimal drying conditions in the kiln with automatic control of installed equipment through its relay outputs. In semiautomatic control mode, user can set desired setpoints for air temperature and humidity based on the personal experience, and the automatic control unit only maintain those values inside the kiln. Manual control mode is a special function provided by certain automatic controllers. In this mode, user can control equipment in the kiln manually (i.e., user can manually open or close the servo heating valve and the flaps, and turn on/off humidifying valve). In this mode, automatic control unit only displays the measured values for air temperature and humidity and wood moisture content, but its relay outputs are override by the appropriate switch, so it can not control the equipment in the kiln. In all control modes, automatic control unit automatically changes direction of flow fans. After a certain time, and with a short pause between, automatic control unit alternates direction of reversible flow fans, which is indicated on LCD display. User can alternate direction manually, if needed. After a power failure has occurred, drying is automatically continued starting from the measured wood moisture content upon power supply reconnection. ![]()
